Agreed sentence: four years and nine months in prison

The gang that attacked Brazilian footballer Ronaldo’s chalet in Ibiza has reached an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office and has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison. The six members of the gang admitted to the robberies and have had their sentences reduced.

Robberies in villas in Malaga, Murcia and Ibiza

The gang, led by two Albanian brothers, robbed a total of 13 chalets in Malaga, Murcia and Ibiza. Among the stolen items were jewelry and watches valued at three million euros. Ronaldo’s chalet in Ibiza was one of the gang’s targets.

Reduction of penalties for admitting crimes

The Public Ministry charged four of the defendants with the crimes of continuous robbery with force, continuous falsehood and criminal organization, and requested sentences of fourteen years in prison for them. The other two defendants also faced charges of theft and forgery, but not criminal organization. By admitting their participation in the robberies, the defendants’ sentences were reduced to four years and nine months in prison.

Operation led from Murcia

The operation to capture the gang that attacked Ronaldo’s chalet in Ibiza was led from Murcia. The six members of the band were tried at the Provincial Court of Murcia. It should be noted that the gang had committed at least 15 robberies in different locations in the Community of Murcia, Málaga, Ibiza and Mallorca.

Compensation and fine

In addition to the prison sentences, the members of the gang must pay a fine of 1,080 euros and face compensation of nearly 300,000 euros as civil liability.

Details of the assault on Ronaldo’s villa

The assault on Ronaldo’s villa in Ibiza took place on June 26. The assailants entered through the roof and seized jewelry and watches valued at three million euros. During the robbery, the Italian footballer Marco Verratti and his wife were in the villa, along with other friends. It was Verratti’s wife who surprised the thieves by hearing noises on the first floor of the house. The assailants were captured thanks to security camera images.

Recovery of stolen items

The Police managed to recover the watches and jewelry stolen from Verratti and his wife, including some of the purchase receipts. Among the objects recovered is a gold Rolex purchased in Monaco for 62,000 euros, a jewel purchased in Paris valued at 17,600 euros and a gold watch with diamonds valued at 400,000 euros.
