Improvement works scheduled for the month of August
The city of Girona is preparing for an important project to modernize its sewer network, which will take place from August 8 to 30. The public company TRARGISA will lead the works that aim to improve the infrastructure in a specific section of Carrer del Carme, thus affecting circulation in strategic areas.
Impact on traffic and access measures
During the three weeks that the works will last, traffic will be restricted between buildings 11 and 77, spanning from the Pedreres rise to the Areny bridge, and this only on working days. Vehicles will find it difficult to pass between 8 am and 6 pm, although access to the local fords will be guaranteed on the same street, which will be enabled in both directions.
Crucial repairs to infrastructure
The days 19, 20 and 21 August will be particularly significant, as the closure will be total for 24 hours to facilitate the repair of a deteriorated slab in the registration well. Although the entrances to the fords will remain operational, the exit will require heading south along Carrer del Carmen.
Changes in the public transport service
Alterations are also planned on the L6 bus line that connects Sarrià de Ter with Girona. This will involve a modified route, with the stops on the Pedreres climb and Sant Francesc avenue suspended, trusting that users will find suitable alternatives during this period.
A year of progress in municipal administration
The mayor of Girona, Lluc Salellas, took the opportunity to take stock of the progress made during his first year in office. According to him, his management has been key to activating processes that have been at a standstill until now, with multiple projects that are expected to generate visible results in the very near future.
Invisible milestones and structural improvements
Salellas has highlighted that many of the improvements implemented are ‘invisible’ but fundamental to the proper functioning of the city, ensuring that they have contributed to creating a more efficient municipal gear that will benefit all citizens.
