He hopes the PSC will stick to his approach, although he adds: “We are usually disappointed”

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, trusts in the support of all the parties for the unique funding proposal for Catalonia

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has expressed his confidence in the support of all political parties for the unique funding proposal for Catalonia. In an informative breakfast organized by Europa Press, Aragonès stated that this proposal is widely supported by Catalans, including voters of all parties, from the CUP to Vox. According to Aragonès, opinion polls show that most voters support a similar funding model when asked about their preferences.

The demand for unique funding for Catalonia is shared by several political forces

Aragonès has emphasized that the demand for unique funding for Catalonia can be an agenda shared by various political forces of Catalanism, beyond independenceism. He pointed out that other territories such as the Basque Country and Navarre also defend the economic concert, and considers that there is no formation that defends the interests of Catalonia that opposes this proposal. In this sense, he has made an appeal to the PSC, stating that the socialists should defend singular funding if they want to defend the interests of Catalonia, and not those of the PSOE.

Confidence in the support of Junts for the unique financing proposal

Regarding Junts’ position, Aragonès has been convinced that they will adhere to the proposal. He recalled that Parliament approved an initiative to claim a unique financing law for Catalonia, which had the support of ERC, Junts, the Commons and the CUP. In this sense, Aragonès considers that Junts will also defend singular funding for Catalonia.

Appeal to the PSC and disappointment with its position

In response to a question about the PSC, Aragonès has expressed his disappointment with the position of the Socialists. He has stated that the PSC should defend singular funding if they want to defend the interests of Catalonia, and not those of the PSOE. In addition, he added that the PSC often disappoints them with its positions.
