Hummels is looking for opportunities in Madrid, but the club has other plans

The dream of many players

Real Madrid is at a peak moment, and it is not surprising that many top players want to be part of their team. Among these, there are footballers who have even finished their contracts and are offering themselves to the club at zero cost for the next season. One of these cases is that of a German central who has contacted Florentino Pérez to strengthen Madrid’s defense, along with Antonio Rüdiger.

Mats Hummels’ wish

Mats Hummels, who recently left Borussia Dortmund after a disagreement with the coach, wants to continue fighting for the Champions League. In his career, this title has eluded him, and he believes that Real Madrid is the ideal place to achieve it. The European champions have proven to be a strong contender, especially after bringing in one of the best strikers in the world, making them once again favorites to take the title this new season.

Management of the representative

Hummels’ representative has contacted the Madrid club to offer the player’s services for free. The German central would provide Madrid with experience, defensive solidity and leadership ability, demonstrated on multiple occasions. However, the club’s response has not been the desired one.

Response from Florentino Pérez

Florentino Pérez has expressed that, despite appreciating the offer and wishing the best for the player, Hummels does not fit the profile they are looking for for the future of the club. The main reason is the age of the German centre-back, as the Whites are looking for a young player who can grow in the team, accompanied by the current veterans.

Madrid’s priorities

At this moment, the addition of a defender is not a priority for Real Madrid. The club is fully focused on the acquisition of talents such as Mbappé and Endrick. One option they may consider is Leny Yoro, an 18-year-old centre-back with a promising future ahead of him. The 35 years of Hummels do not meet the profile desired by the club.

Madrid’s defense

The current defense of Madrid, composed of Rüdiger, Militao and David Alaba, already convinces both the coach and the board of directors. They are confident that this group can compete again for all the titles. With alternatives such as Tchouameni and Jesús Vallejo, the club believes that they do not need any other additions to strengthen the defense.
