A Week of Purchasing with a Sustainable Approach
From 3 to 10 May, the city of Igualada vibrated with the celebration of a new edition of Slow Shopping, an initiative that seeks to revitalize local commerce through a more conscious and relaxed shopping experience.
New Strategies for Attracting Customers
This year, the City Council, through its Trade Area, carried out an optimistic balance sheet on the event, highlighting the participation of more than 50 local businesses. The campaign not only maintained its focus on promoting local trade, but also incorporated key innovations to align with current consumer trends.
A Change in the Calendar
One of the main innovations was the reprogramming of the dates, the result of a proposal by Igualada Comerç, which sought to synchronize the event with the atmosphere prior to Rec.0, a strategy designed to attract more visitors to local shops.
Digitalization and Sustainability: A New Course
In a turn towards modernity, this year’s campaign dispensed with traditional printed maps, instead opting for the creation of a web platform: www.igualadaslowshopping.cat. This tool is not only environmentally friendly, but also makes it easy for users to access information about participating stores, promotions, activities and parking spaces.
A Tool for the Future
The Councillor of Commerce, Jordi Marcè, emphasized the importance of this digitization, stating that ‘this edition has marked a turning point’, highlighting the positive reception by the public.
Awards and Surprises for Buyers
During the week of Slow Shopping, customers who made purchases at participating shops had the opportunity to participate in special draws. Through a QR code and a digital form, buyers could win exciting prizes, including a balloon flight and tickets for cinema and theatre.
Winners of the Rifa
The lucky winners were held at an event last week, where the awards were presented in the presence of Councilman Marcè. The awards included:
- [‘Balloon flight: Fine Palomas Castellví’, ‘Movie tickets: Michelle Navarrete, Jaume Lacasa Farreras, Montserrat Sellares Bolós, Jaume Sendiu Pallerols, Marta Salgado Juan’, ‘Theatre Tickets: Alicia Lardies, Sonia Caellas, Mar Martí Montaner, Yessica Ruiz, Maite Sevilla Clavero’, ‘Captive flights: Claudia Gilart Brunet, Jordina Guillamet Clota, Cristina Carcasona Roura, Carola Oliveras Vilaseca, Glòria Sánchez Horcas, Sergi Barrientos Domènech, Monica Cuadras, Benedicta Castellano Mazo, María Dolores Carol Enajas, Isabel Mensa Diaz, Magda Canela Llorens, Dolores Valero, María Domènech Tomàs, Encarni Portugués Pastor, Eva María Sabaté González’]
Closing with Joy and the Community
The closing of the campaign took place on May 10, with activities for children in Cal Font Square and a traffic closure on the street “dena”, where shops exhibited their products outdoors, creating a festive and community atmosphere.
Looking to the Future
With this successful edition, Igualada reaffirms its commitment to Slow Shopping, establishing a proposal that not only promotes local commerce, but also adapts to the needs and expectations of contemporary consumers.
