Igualada is preparing for the VolCAT 2025: an international BTT party

An event of great magnitude

This morning, the city of Igualada has been the scene of the presentation of the By Scott 2025 volcat, an emblematic race that celebrates its 20th edition. From April 18 to 20, 2025, the competition will become the meeting point for the mountain biking, with the aim of gathering more than 500 cyclists from 20 different countries.

A renewed format and challenges for all

The volcat will regain its traditional three -stage format, designed to test both the skill and the resistance of the participants. The organization hopes that the number of runners can reach 600, with registrations still open for those interested.

Statements of the organizers

The event was attended by Patricia Illa, Councilor for Sports, who emphasized the economic impact that the volcat generates on the Catalan territory. Illa has expressed its satisfaction to enjoy a sporting event of this magnitude. Albert Balcells, CEO of Ocisport, emphasized the diversity of roads and paths offered by the Anoia region, a feature that makes this edition an unmissable event.

A challenge for fans and professionals

Volcat will not only attract level competitors, but also fans who want to experience a unique experience. The UCI C3 in the first and last stages will allow those who are looking for points for their ranking competing in a welcoming atmosphere. In addition, participants will be able to opt for the categories Pro and Open, with the flexibility of registering for one, two or three stages.

Prominent names and international participation

Among the runners already confirmed is Axel Badia, a member of the DMT Racing Team, who will provide a high level of competition to the race. With a participation that promises to be international, the volcat will have representatives from three continents.

Activities for the whole family

In addition to the adult tests, the Kids volcat will allow children between the ages of five and fourteen participating in free races, with prior registration, on April 19. All small participants will receive a commemorative gift.

Eliminator test: the cherry on the cake

The day will end with the classic Eliminator test, which will recognize the fastest cyclists of the volcat, adding a touch of competition and excitement to the event.

The details of the stages

Etapa 1: XCO UCI C3

The first stage, 42.1 km with a positive slope of 933 m, will challenge participants with varied paths and demanding promotion, requiring good energy management.

Stage 2: Autonomous Marathon

On the second day, with 61.42 km and 1533 m of unevenness, it will present a longer route with distributed ascents, which will allow the cyclists to enjoy the beauty of the paths.

Etapa 3: XCO UCI C3

The competition will conclude with a stage of 33 km that, despite being shorter, promises intensity and fun through the characteristic paths of the test.

Space for motorhome

For those who want to live the complete splash experience, there will be a campers, where participants will be able to rest and enjoy the atmosphere of the race throughout the day.
