Inauguration of a historical edition
This Friday, at 19:00, the city of Igualada will host the opening of its 13th edition of the FineArt de Photography Festival. This edition, which will extend from February 21 to March 16, stands out for a unique approach to female representation in the world of photography. For the first time in its history, the participation of women photographers exceeds that of their male counterparts, reflecting a significant change in the artistic landscape.
A diverse and inclusive program
The inauguration ceremony will take place in the Cal Boyer / Museum of the Pell, with the outstanding presence of local figures such as the Mayor Marc Castells and Ramon Mascaró, president of the Photographic Grouping of Igualada. The festival offers a total of 36 exhibitions spread over various emblematic spaces in the city, including two new places: the urban orchards of the Rec district and the Capelleta ship, thus expanding the cultural scope of the event.
Complementary activities for all tastes
In addition to the exhibitions, Fineart Igualada proposes 27 parallel activities that include round tables, guided tours and workshops, as well as a photo -book market and photography. These initiatives seek to enrich the experience of attendees, while promoting the participation of design and photography schools, which use the festival as a platform to make visibility to young emerging talents.
A firm bond with the territory
The festival not only brings together internationally renowned photographers, but also claims its commitment to the local community. This translates into exhibitions such as those of the City of Igualada Procopi Llucià and the AFI’s Trophy, as well as work by local artists such as Neus Aguilera and Paquita Martos. In addition, the exhibition ‘Photographers | Woman | Fashion | Igualada ‘offers a look at the role of advertising and fashion in the city between the 1950’s and 1990’s, with material from the Anoia County Archive.
A global view through photography
The festival will also have the participation of international photographers who provide a diverse perspective. Argentina, Sweden, New York and Holland professionals will show their work, contributing to a broader understanding of current photographic tendencies and their intersections with global culture.
Reflections on the future of photography
With a renewed approach to inclusion and diversity, FineArt Igualada is positioned as a benchmark not only for photography, but also as a platform for social debate and reflection. This edition promises to be a turning point in the way photography is perceived and valued in the contemporary artistic context, opening up new avenues for creation and artistic expression.
