Improvement in Waiting Times

During the month of April, significant improvements were observed in the waiting times of the health lists in the Community of Madrid. In external consultations, a reduction of 0.33% has been recorded, going from 703,805 patients in the previous month to 701,443 patients currently. In addition, the delay time to see the specialist has decreased by 4 days, standing at an average of 60.84 days, while the national average is 101 days, according to the SISLE report corresponding to the last semester of 2023.

Diagnostic Tests and Operations

The number of people from Madrid pending a diagnostic test has experienced a decrease of 3.57%, going from 206,357 people in the previous month to 198,994 people in April. However, the average delay in tests such as ultrasounds and colonoscopies has increased by 1 day, standing at 62.11 days.

As for non-urgent operations, despite a 1.04% increase in the number of patients, the waiting time to enter the operating room has decreased from 50.29 days to 47.30 days. This improvement places the Community of Madrid as the region with the lowest waiting time in the entire State for surgeries, with an average of 63 days.

Mixed Management Hospitals

The data shows that hospitals with mixed management have the lowest waiting times for consultations with specialist doctors, with times lower than the regional average for April. These hospitals include the Villalba General University Hospital, the Jiménez Díaz Foundation, the Infanta Elena University Hospital and the Rei Joan Carles University Hospital.

Hospital Complexity

Hospitals of great complexity, such as the Gregorio Marañón, on October 12, the Clínic San Carlos, La Paz and the Ramón i Cajal, have longer waiting times. On the other hand, hospitals of medium complexity, such as the one in Torrejón, the Fundació Alcorcón, the one in Getafe and the Prince of Asturias, show delays of less than two months, while the hospitals of low complexity have waiting times shorter

Diagnostic tests

In the field of diagnostic tests, eight hospitals have waiting times of less than a month, while in some hospitals delays exceed three or four months.
