Interventions for Energy Improvement
Currently, a substantial part of the buildings in Catalonia have poor energy insulation, which translates into an increase in the cost of electricity and gas supply for homes. Actions on the facade, roof and enclosures of homes can lead to a significant improvement in the energy efficiency of a property.
In this sense, the Generalitat de Catalunya has already granted more than 87 million euros in aid from the European Next Generation funds for the energy rehabilitation of more than 8,800 homes, with the aim of reducing the consumption of non-renewable primary energy and fight climate change.
Funds and Grants
The Government has also granted subsidies worth 4.5 million euros for the preparation of the Book of the building and projects, which provides information on the technical characteristics of the buildings and guidelines for adequate maintenance. The aid varies depending on the energy savings and can cover between 40 and 80% of the investment, with caps.
The Next Generation funds of the European Union represent the largest economic injection in history for the energy rehabilitation of buildings in Catalonia, with a total of 480 million euros intended for around 50,000 homes until the year 2026.
Aid Programs
The aid is mainly divided into three programs: building rehabilitation, housing rehabilitation and neighborhood rehabilitation, with the aim of improving energy efficiency and removing asbestos from buildings.
The people and entities benefiting from these subsidies include communities of owners, individual owners, public administrations, cooperative societies and leasing companies or concessionaires of residential buildings.
Elaboration of the Book of the Building and Projects
In addition to the above grants, communities of residential building owners and companies can apply for grants for the preparation of the Book of the building and projects, which provides detailed technical information on the characteristics of the buildings and the necessary actions to achieve improvements in energy efficiency.
So far, 4,597,277 euros in subsidies have been granted for a total of 9,325 homes, with the possibility of accumulating this aid with other available subsidies.
