Works on Line 2: Improvements required
From Saturday, April 12, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) will begin a series of works to adapt to line 2 of the metro. This intervention will affect the section between the stations of La Pau and Badalona Pompeu Fabra, which will remain closed until April 21, coinciding with Easter. Travelers who use this line must look for alternatives that are offered within the same network and through a shuttle bus service that will cover the affected route.
Details about the works
The scheduled works are essential for the optimization of the platforms of the Stations of Artigues and Pep Ventura. The total investment for these improvements amounts to 1.7 million euros, in order to reduce incidents and offer more efficient service once the works are completed.
Accessibility improvements to line 1
In parallel, the same weekend, line 1 will also experience a temporary closure. The section between La Sagrera and Glòries will be out of service for the installation of elevators that will facilitate access to the Clot station. This initiative is part of a larger project that seeks to improve accessibility for all users, including those with reduced mobility.
Investment and funding
The accessibility reform at the Clot station is supported by an investment of 7.1 million euros, with a part of the funding coming from the Nextgenerationeu Funds, within the framework of the European Union Recovery and Transformation Plan.
Mobility alternatives
With both service cuts, the metro is positioned as the most practical mobility solution. On line 2, from the Peace Station, you can access Line 4 and the Besòs station, which allows connections to the section. In Gorg, travelers can access the North L10 and the H10 bus connects the area with peace.
Transportation links and options
As for line 1, La Sagrera users can transfer to lines L5, L9 North and L10 North, while in Clot there are connections with the L2. Also, the environment of these stations is served by several bus lines that offer additional transport options.
Shuttle services
To facilitate mobility during the cuts, TMB will implement a shuttle service that will work with the same metro schedule, covering the route between Badalona/Pompeu Fabra and La Pau. This service will prioritize people with reduced mobility.
Schedules and details
The last outings of the shuttle bus will be at 23:29 during weekdays and at 1:29 on Fridays and eve of holidays. At L1, a special bus service will also operate on the affected section, guaranteeing appropriate connections with the metro.
Communication and information
To ensure that users are well informed about the alterations of the service, TMB has launched a communicative campaign that includes the presence of reporters at the affected stations. This campaign, which started on April 5, includes specific signaling and information through TMB digital channels.
Digital tools and information accessibility
Users can access the information on the effects through the TMB website and the mobile application, where the travel planner ‘I want to go’ allows you to consult the best alternatives during the closing periods. Also, the information is spread through PA systems and information screens at the stations.
