The average amount of pensions in Catalonia has increased
According to the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, the average amount of pensions in Catalonia has experienced an increase of 4.98% in April 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year. This increase places the average amount of pensions in Catalonia at 1,302.65 euros.
Number of pension beneficiaries in Catalonia
During the month of April 2024, there were a total of 1,780,513 pension beneficiaries in Catalonia, which represents an increase of 0.78% compared to the previous year. This number of beneficiaries represents 17.54% of the total number of pension beneficiaries in Spain.
Breakdown of pensions by type
The retirement benefit accounts for 66% of all pensions in Catalonia, with an average amount of 1,470.76 euros. This figure is 31.65 euros higher than the national average, which is 1,439.11 euros. Permanent disability pensions have an average amount of 1,278.01 euros, widowhood pensions 910.84 euros, family benefits 818.33 euros and orphans’ pensions 494.78 euros.
Breakdown of pensions by demarcations
Regarding the average amount of pensions by demarcation, Barcelona is the demarcation with the highest amount, with 1,342.71 euros, followed by Tarragona with 1,226.07 euros, Girona with 1,173.66 euros and Lleida with 1,125, 56 euros.
Pensions at state level
At state level, the average pension in April 2024 was 1,252.32 euros, 5% more than the same month of the previous year. This increase has been produced thanks to the successive revaluations carried out over the past five years. During the fourth month of the year, 12,710.8 million euros were allocated to pensions, which represents 11.5% of GDP.
