Innovation and Sustainability: The Minister’s visit to Ametller Origin

A vision of the future in Olèrdola

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, Oscar Ordeig, together with the Food Secretary, Rosa Cubel, recently made a visit to the headquarters of the Ametller Origen group, located in Olèrdola. This meeting was an opportunity to directly explore the company’s innovative projects.

An emblematic project: the Hub of Mont-roig del Camp

During his stay, Ordeig was informed about one of the most ambitious projects of the company: a hub dedicated to production and innovation in Mont-roig del Camp. With a planned investment of 50 million euros, this center will be positioned as one of the most important in the horticultural sector in Catalonia and plans to create more than 500 jobs, focusing on the training of future professionals in the field of agriculture.

Commitment to quality and sustainability

The counselor emphasized the importance of maintaining a high standard of quality in production processes. “Agri -food is essential for the economy of our country, and we must make an effort to incorporate new technologies and digitalization that ensure our competitiveness in the market,” said Ordeig.

The importance of farmer’s office

Josep Ametller, co -founder of the Ametller Origen group, highlighted the need to promote the farmer. According to him, it is crucial that both the private and the public collaborate to make this profession an essential pillar of the agri -food transformation that Catalonia needs.

A sustainable production model

With more than 1,800 hectares of its own crops and a 5,000 m2 workshop, the Ametller Origen group stands out for its productive capacity. Each year, its Olèrdola plant generates more than 15 million products, including creams, broths, and a wide variety of dairy products and prepared dishes, thus reflecting their commitment to sustainability and quality.
