A record of participation in the third edition
The third edition of the Eixarcoant Awards has exceeded all expectations with almost thirty registered projects, establishing a new record for participation. This great reception reaffirms the importance of these awards as catalysts for initiatives that merge scientific knowledge with ancient traditions.
A response to global challenges
Eixarcoant awards have emerged as an active response to problems such as climate change, a decrease in biodiversity and rural depopulation. Its mission is to promote a model of sustainable production and consumption, recovering and values the local species and the traditional ecological knowledge that connects us with the world of plants.
Fostering research and entrepreneurship
These awards not only recognize excellence in ethnobotany, but also promote research and entrepreneurship in this field, promoting the collaboration between various actors in the territory. In addition, financial support is offered to projects that generate social, environmental and economic benefits.
A special gala in the lined room
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 13 in the Sala Museum of the Skin Museum. The event promises to be a unique celebration with the participation of leading artists and experts in the field.
Performances and debates
The musician Borja Penalba will offer a special performance, while the illustrator Elisabet Serra will show his artistic talent. In addition, a debate on food sovereignty will be organized with the participation of figures such as Laia Batalla, of the School of Shepherds, and Gustavo Duch, of Soberanía Alimentaria. The gala will be presented by journalist Jordi Códol.
Categories i Premis
The Eixarcolant Awards, organized by the Eixarcolant collective with the support of the Generalitat, are structured into two main categories. The first, focused on research and scientific transfer in ethnobotany, seeks projects that recover traditional knowledge about plants. The second, dedicated to entrepreneurship, values initiatives that generate new products or services from the local flora.
Significant rewards
With a notable budget increase, each category will award a first prize of € 2,000 and a second prize of € 1,000, making the competition even more attractive to the participants.
