Innovative young people transform wine tourism with a new app

An application that revolutionizes the world of wine

A group of four students from 4th ESO from the Vedruna school in Vilafranca has developed an innovative application that connects wine lovers with the winery and wineries in the area. The application, which includes detailed information on 17 wine establishments in the capital of Alt Penedès, seeks to facilitate the experience of wine tourism.

A tailor -made virtual assistance

In addition to the information on the wineries, the app incorporates a virtual assistant that acts as a personal guide. Through a simple questionnaire, the user can discover which winner best suits his tastes and preferences, thus improving his wine tourism experience.

A project born of a need

The idea came from a specific situation: during an outing, the students encountered tourists looking for recommendations about where to enjoy good wine, but they couldn’t help them. This experience inspired them to create a technological solution that connects visitors to the wine options of their city.

RECOGNITIONS I FUTUR PROMISION

The project, called ‘Vaterries Penedès’, has been recognized with the Recercàrium Award during a student innovation day. This victory opened its doors to participation in the Expo Research Jove de Barcelona, where the team was awarded the Award for Scientific Culture.

Institutional support and expansion

The City Council of Vilafranca, through its Councilor for Tourism, Gemma Romeu, has expressed the desire to integrate the application within the Strategic Local Tourism Plan. In addition, it seeks to expand the application database to include information on other municipalities in the Alt Penedès.

A Step Forwards for the Culture of the Vi

The President of the La Llar de la Research Association, Gerard Ferret, emphasized the importance of initiatives like this, which foster the interest of young people in the world of wine and provide useful tools for tourists. This application not only serves as a guide, but is also a reflection of the passionate work of a group of students who have been able to identify and solve a real need.
