Forest fire investigation

The Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Civil Guard is carrying out an investigation to determine the circumstances under which the forest fire that occurred last Saturday in Riba-roja de Túria was triggered. The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, reported that work is being done to identify those responsible for the fire, which is suspected to have been arson, like another fire that occurred in the same area on April 24.

Coordination of efforts

The Civil Guard is collaborating closely with the Local Police and firefighting teams in this investigation. In addition, the joint work with the mayor of Riba-Roja de Túria, Robert Raga, during the visit to the extinction work has been highlighted.

Development of the fire and actions taken

The fire, which started near the river around 2:10 p.m., forced the evacuation of the Masia de Traver urbanization and the interruption of the service of Metrovalencia line 2 between La Canyada and l’Eliana. Fortunately, firefighters managed to stabilize the fire around 11:05 p.m. the same day.

Care for affected people

During the incident, two people received medical attention for smoke inhalation. Despite this, it has been highlighted that there was no significant personal injury, and the effective evacuation carried out by the emergency teams, including the Local Police, was appreciated.

Support and future actions

The Government delegate in the Valencian Community expressed the support of the Executive to the mayor of the town and announced an upcoming meeting between the president of the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) and the mayor to collaborate on the necessary actions. Likewise, it is expected that the Ministry will show diligence in coordinating the control and extinguishing of the fire.
