Catalonia leads investments in infrastructure
According to the Minister of Transport and Sustainability, Óscar Puente, Catalonia is the territory where the State has made the most investments in infrastructure. During the year 2023, a total of 940 million euros were allocated there, 250 million euros more than in the Community of Madrid. However, the minister has admitted that the execution rate in Madrid exceeded 100%. In Catalonia, the percentage of execution was 46%, but this figure still exceeds that of other autonomous communities such as Andalusia, which had a percentage of execution of 38% with 731 million euros invested.
Territorial comparisons
Minister Puente has refused to make territorial comparisons, since he considers that the needs and transport networks are not equivalent in all territories. According to him, these comparisons are deceptive and do not reflect reality.
Inversions futures
The minister has emphasized that, if all tenders were to be stopped right now, Catalonia would continue to be the territory with the most investments in infrastructure over the coming years. This is due to the homework done in relation to the tenders and current actions, such as the Neighborhood Plan, which is considered ambitious and realistic, and the Mediterranean corridor, which has a sensible and orderly schedule. He also mentioned other works in progress or future projects, such as the remodeling of Sants, La Sagrera, the B-40 to Granollers and the expansion of El Prat airport (https://www.softcatala.org/resum -of-texts-in-Catalan/).
