Investments in the Environment and Education: The Penedès Regional Council marks 2025

What’s new in the 2025 Budget

The Alt Penedès Regional Council has approved a budget for next year that amounts to more than 16 million euros, with a notable increase of 14.18% compared to the previous year. This figure includes an investment chapter of almost one million euros dedicated to improving the environment and education, two areas that have received a significant boost.

Environmental Projects and Institutional Collaboration

Within the framework of this budget, the executive project for the environmental improvement of the tail of the Foix reservoir has been highlighted, a joint effort between the Regional Council and the City Council of Castellet i la Gornal. The Generalitat de Catalunya has granted a subsidy of 326,000 euros for the cleaning of invasive vegetation and sediments, with the aim of restoring this local ecosystem.

Technical and Financial Aspects

The president of the Regional Council, Xavier Lluch, explained that this project will go into the bidding phase immediately after being unanimously approved in plenary. This underlines the importance that the Council attributes to sustainability and the preservation of natural resources.

Improvements in Education and Public Services

The budget also foresees an increase in school canteen subsidies, with an injection of 600,000 euros, which seeks to guarantee access to adequate food for all students. The Regional Council’s workforce is set at 146 jobs, with 39 vacancies, and it is expected that the process of making workers civil servants will be completed in 2025.

Strategic Plans for the Future

Another proposal approved was the Strategic Subsidy Plan for the period 2025-2027, which includes more than 30 lines of subsidy in areas such as education, culture and tourism promotion. This plan, aligned with the policies of the Regional Government, seeks to establish a clear roadmap for regional development.

Objectives and Financing

Ton Amat, president of the Economy and Finance Area, explained that the plan defines specific objectives, deadlines and sources of funding for each line of aid, thus guaranteeing its effectiveness and long-term sustainability.

Closing of the Plenary Session and Additional Information

The plenary session concluded with a report from the secretary on decrees and resolutions, followed by a round of information and questions from attendees. This session marked an important step towards a 2025 with a renewed commitment to sustainability and community well-being.
