A recognition of journalistic information on social and health issues
A total of 31 journalistic works on health and social rights issues have been selected as finalists for the Health and Social Rights Journalism Awards. These awards recognize the work of communication professionals in disseminating relevant information on these very important issues for Catalan society.
National Mode
In the National mode, three projects have been selected that stand out for their quality and impact:
1. Tourist operators welcome evicted families
This article, published in La Directa on March 27, 2023, highlights how some tourist operators are taking advantage of the situation of evicted families to obtain economic benefits. The work carried out by journalists Anna Iñigo, Gemma Garcia Fàbrega and Víctor Serri exposes this worrying reality.
2. Autism from a positive perspective
The article, published in El Periódico on June 18, 2023, is about how autistic people see the world in a different way and how this perspective can be enriching. The author, Beatriz Pérez, offers a positive view of autism and emphasizes the importance of inclusion and acceptance.
3. Foster care as an opportunity for change
This work, broadcast on Catalunya Ràdio on April 30, 2023, explores the experiences of boys and girls who have been taken in by foster families. The author, Elisabet Pedrosa, highlights how this opportunity can change the lives of minors and offer them a better future.
Local Mode
In the Local mode, three works have been selected that stand out for their quality and impact in the districts of Camp de Tarragona:
1. Accompanying young people with emotional suffering
This work, broadcast on Tarragona Ràdio on November 28, 2023, highlights the importance of supporting young people who suffer from emotional problems. The author, Miguel González Richart, highlights the need for support and understanding at this stage of life.
2. One hundred years of life in the Conca de Barberà
This work, broadcast on TV3 on March 28, 2023, commemorates the centenary of three women from Pira, in the Conca de Barberà. Journalists Núria Sabaté and Marta Tersol narrate their experiences and reflect on the passage of time and the importance of memory.
3. A story of personal improvement
This work, broadcast on Canal Reus on May 17, 2023, tells the story of Paula Jansà, a person who has managed to overcome difficulties and accept herself. The author reflects on the importance of self-esteem and the struggle to be oneself.
The award ceremony
The awarded works will be announced in a public event that will take place on Friday, April 5, in the Muralles room of the Tarragón El Seminari Center in Tarragona. The event will be chaired by the Minister of Social Rights of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Carles Campuzano, and led by the journalist Sara Sans.
A recognition of journalistic work
These awards are a recognition of the work of journalists who work in the dissemination of information on health and social rights issues. Their work is fundamental to the construction of an informed society committed to these issues that are so important to the well-being of Catalan citizens.
