An unexpected start in the world of clothing
In Calaf, a 20 -year -old girl named Judit Morera has found her vocation in the design of devils dresses, a path that began in a surprising way. One year ago, he shared on social media an image of a devil’s coat he had created by a friend, triggering an avalanche of groups from all over Catalonia.
A family legacy that inspires
Morera, who has learned the foundations of his grandmother’s sewing, a renowned dressmaker, acknowledges that his training has been essential for his success. “She is the one who transmitted me all I know,” he says gratitude. In the face of increasing demand, he decided to suspend his photography studies in Lleida to devote himself completely to his workshop, called the sewer of Judit.
A large -scale production
Currently, the young designer is immersed in the preparation of about eighty dresses by the Colla Cua de Drac de Cornellà de Llobregat, after having been in charge of various regions such as Urgell and Tarragonès. “My phone does not stop ringing since I opened the workshop,” Morera shares with a laugh.
The fusion of tradition and innovation
The devils dresses that Morera creates are not only functionally attractive, but also reflect a mixture of tradition and innovation. Using materials such as cotton 100% and linen, the importance of tissue resistance is emphasized. The most sought after colors are black, red and beige, the latter with a symbolic value in the history of groups.
Designs adapted to each gang
Morera observes that there are groups that prefer to maintain traditional aesthetics, while others dare to explore new proposals. “I like to incorporate items that make comfortable and practical dresses,” he says.
Their passion for popular culture
Since childhood, Judit has been immersed in popular culture. Remember with affection to accompany his father, a real devil, in the correfocs. Its involvement with the Colla de Diables de Alta Segarra and the Ball de Sant Miquel de Igualada has fueled its passion for this tradition.
A personal and exciting project
One of his most anticipated projects is the design of the Diablessa dress for his own gang. Judit will not only make him, but he will also look and burn him in a symbolic act that closes his commitment to tradition.
