La Garrotxa: A new emerging innovation pole

The region of La Garrotxa, known for its natural and cultural richness, is quickly transformed into a nucleus of innovation and entrepreneurship. With a population of 61,000, the region has experienced a significant growth of 3% in one year, driven by immigration seeking opportunities in sectors such as food, rubber and wholesale trade.

Garrotxa Tech: promoting the future

The Garrotxa Tech association, recently founded by 2023, is positioned as an essential engine for local entrepreneurship. With the aim of creating a dynamic ecosystem, you are preparing to launch a new innovation hub called Space 01 in Olot, which will open in April 2025.

A space for entrepreneurship

Located at the Old Simon Factory, this space will not only serve as an office, but also provide work areas, networking areas and an auditorium known as Agora space. The latter will be the scene of events and training that will promote the interaction between companies and professionals.

The new hub will be equipped with an ultra -rapid Internet connection of 10 GBPS, provided by the Vera company, as well as additional services such as fiscal address and access to specialized mentors in digital transformation.

With the support of the City Council of Olot and the Diputació de Girona, the Garrotxa Tech Space 01 has achieved mixed funding, with 70% of private capital and 30% of institutional aid. Key figures like Pep Berga have been central to their creation, while architecture teams like Bayona Studio have designed the space.

A growing business fabric

The region has a strong business fabric, although it has historically been little linked to the technological sector. The creation of Garrotxa Tech has marked a significant change, with more than 70 members and a program of 15 annual activities to foster collaboration with local companies and entities.

Initiatives such as Garrotxa Investors seeking to consolidate local talent and facilitate investment access, ensuring that entrepreneurs do not have to look for funding away from home.
