La Pobla de Mafumet celebrates the day of the worker with a cultural excursion

A tradition that unites

In commemoration of May 1, the City Council of La Pobla de Mafumet has prepared a cultural excursion to the renowned sanctuary of the Virgin of Montserrat. This initiative, which remains alive year after year, is an ideal opportunity for the local community to share a day of reflection and spirituality.

Registration and logistics details

Participation in this departure is completely free, but it is necessary to register in advance. Interested neighbors can formalize their registration at the Cultural Center, where a care schedule has been established from 10 to 14 hours and from 16 to 20 hours, until April 29.

Itinerary of the day

The day will begin with a meeting at 7.30 am in the parking lot of the new section of Madró Mina Avenue. At 8:00 a.m., the committee will take the trip to Montserrat. Once they have arrived, participants will be able to attend the religious service scheduled for 11 am, within the sanctuary.

Visit to the Majolica

Following the celebration, the retinue will go to the path of the Degotalls to worship the majolica of the Virgin of the Lledó, a recent symbol of the municipality. This work, which represents the wooden image of the patron saint, incorporates significant elements of local history.

A memory that persists

Installed as a tribute to the decades of 2020, the Majolica was officially opened in 2022 after being commissioned by the ceramist company Esteve-Via de Can Fontanals. This piece, which stands out for its traditional design, includes details such as a Lledoner and the Church of Sant Joan, offering a visual connection with the history of the municipality.

Closing of the day

After enjoying a free time for lunch and exploring the area, the retinue will begin the return trip, with the scheduled arrival at La Pobla de Mafumet around 7.30pm. This activity not only strengthens community ties, but also recalls the importance of local tradition and culture.
