L’Aliança: a gastronomic trip to England with a family soul

A legacy of flavor and tradition

Catalonia is a gastronomic paradise with 53 restaurants awarded by the Michelin guide, each of them a star in a firmament of flavours. Among them, the Aliança d’Anglès stands out, which not only offers exceptional dishes, but also narrates a family history rich in traditions.

The story of a passion

The history of the Alliance goes back to 1953, when Cristina’s grandparents, Adela and Lluís, transformed a modest cafe into the heart of the local community. This space was not only known for its Roman-style squid, but also became a meeting point for all the residents, where warmth and conviviality were always present.

The generational transition

With the arrival of the 90s, Josep Mª and Lluís took over the family business, innovating the menu while maintaining the essence of the place. Live music added a new dimension to the evenings of leisure, with performances that set the town abuzz.

The new era of the Alliance

After the loss of Lluís, his daughters and uncle decided to continue with the family history, reopening the Alliance with a renewed vision. With the entry of Àlex Carrera in the kitchen, the restaurant adopted a contemporary approach that respects the roots.

A space for creation and innovation

Recently, the Alliance has expanded its facilities, thus allowing greater creativity in the dishes and a richer experience for diners. Its cuisine stands out for its elegance, combining technique and tradition with local ingredients.

The Alliance’s tasting menus are a journey through the authentic flavors of the region. Each dish is a work of art that pays tribute to tradition, like the snacks inspired by vermouth time, which transport diners to nostalgic moments.

Dishes such as Figueres onion and cuttlefish cobbler exemplify the team’s dedication to innovation and surprise. The Alliance does not offer a conventional letter; instead, diners can choose between two tasting menus that reveal an explosion of flavors and textures.

Acknowledgments and future

The Alliance regained its Michelin star in 2020, followed by a Sol Repsol a year later, proof of the couple’s commitment to excellence. Each service is a challenge and an opportunity to win the hearts of its customers, who look forward to living this experience again.
