A celebration of the Catalan language
Since 2003, Sant Feliu City Council has worked in collaboration with other administrations and local entities to organize the annual Language Week. This initiative consists of a series of activities and cultural events whose main objective is to highlight the Catalan language and encourage its use from a playful and reflective perspective.
The 19th edition of the Language Week will be held from April 20 to 28. The main event will be Sant Jordi’s Day, which will take place next Tuesday, April 23.
Shows and activities for the whole family
Language Week will begin with the children’s and family show “The dragon makes a move”, by the company LaBerta DelPoble. This performance will take place on Saturday the 20th at 12 noon at the Montserrat Roig Library.
On Monday the 22nd, there will be a double session of activities. At 5:30 p.m., the awards for the II Sant Jordi Literary Exhibition will be presented in the Sala Ibèria. Then you can enjoy the family show “Quin desastre de Sant Jordi” in Carrer Joan de Batlle, by the Cia. Jomeloguisojomelo.com.
Saint George’s Day, the highlight of Language Week
Sant Jordi’s day will be the epicenter of Language Week. The activities will begin in the afternoon with a sardana dance in Plaça de la Vila, enlivened by Cobla Baix Llobregat. Next, the Casal de la Gent Gran will host the event Celebrem la Diada de Sant Jordi, with havaneras, get-togethers and sardanas.
Plaça de la Vila will be the stage for the Tabalada, in charge of different gangs from the city. At 7 p.m., the institutional event of Sant Jordi’s Day will take place, with the presentation of the Spring Festival poster in the Plenary Hall. The day will end with the ringing of bells by the Colla de Campaners.
