Lanzarote joins the fight against tourist overcrowding in the Canary Islands

Lanzarote, known for its natural beauty and rich history, has joined the event that has been classified as historic. This demonstration, which will take place on April 20 at the Music Kiosk in Arrecife, aims to protest against tourist overcrowding in the Canary Islands.

The conejera island joins the demonstration that will also take place in Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. Under the motto ‘The Canary Islands have a limit. For a change of model!’, the protesters will demand better conservation of the natural spaces of the Canary Islands, the implementation of an ecotax or tourist tax, a tourism and vacation moratorium, and the regulation of the purchase of homes by foreigners.

A growing movement

The demonstration in Tenerife will take place in Plaza Weyler in the capital of Tenerife. The convening groups include ATAN, Save La Tejita, Save Tenerife, Fundación Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello, Save El Puertito, Tabona, Plataforma Los Silos-Isla Baja, Asociación Abeque, Red Asirem, Coordinadora El Rincón, Rebellion Cientifica and ADC-Assembly in Defense of Our Earth (ADNT).

In Gran Canaria, about twenty associations are preparing the demonstration that will begin at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium at 12:00 p.m.

In Fuerteventura, which joined the protest on January 27, the demonstration will also take place at 12:00 on 1º de Mayo street in Puerto del Rosario.
