L’Ateneu Crític: Analysis of Catalan and influencers in social networks

The second Athenaeum Critique of the year

The next Ateneu Crític, which will take place next Tuesday, May 28, at 6 p.m., will be an opportunity to deepen the analysis of Catalan and influencers on social networks.

This event, organized jointly with the General Directorate of Broadcasting of the Generalitat de Catalunya, will be broadcast live on our website from the Palau Robert in Barcelona.

The use of the Catalan language in social networks

During the Ateneu Crític, an exhaustive analysis of the use of the Catalan language by the most important influencers on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok will be carried out.

There will be a debate about the importance of Catalan in the consumption of digital content by young people and it will be discussed how the public administration can encourage the production and consumption of content in Catalan to counter the hegemony of Spanish and English in this area and in this age group.

Experts in the field

The Ateneu Crític will have the participation of four experts on the issue of Catalan and influencers on social networks.

On the one hand, we will have the Secretary of Linguistic Policy of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, F. Xavier Vila, who will explain the measures that have been implemented by the Catalan Administration.

On the other hand, we will have the young digital content creator Mercè Prat, known as @la_semproniana on social networks. Mercè is a Linguistics student and co-presenter of the La Trinae podcast on Ràdio Primavera Sound.

We will also have representatives from Òmnium Cultural and the Platform for the Language, two organizations that have stood out for their defense and promotion of the use of Catalan.

The debate will be moderated by journalist Verónica García, specialist in this subject.
