A week dedicated to the dance
From April 24 to 30, Lleida will become the center of dance with a series of cultural activities designed to emphasize the importance of this artistic expression. The program includes a diversity of events, from dance samples to art exhibitions, with dance as a central element.
Presentation of the programming
Yesterday, the Alfred Perenya Room hosted the presentation of the activities with the Councilor for Culture, Pilar Bosch, and Montse Miret, president of the Association Private Dance Centers of the Terres de Lleida. Bosch stated that the city would become a great dance scenario, inviting all citizens to participate in this artistic celebration.
Dance as a universal language
Bosch emphasized that dance is an art that we all carry inside and deserves to be recognized. Its importance as a universal language that unites us was one of the central points of his speech.
Prominent activities
The most anticipated event will take place on April 25 in Plaça Sant Joan, where a large number of dancers will meet to participate in a dance sample and read the manifesto of International Dance Day. More than 500 dancers from 11 dance schools in the region will take part.
New locations and proposals
One of the novelties of this year is the change of location of the dance show of the schools, which will be held for the first time in the Plaza de la Llotja. This reflects the growth of interest in dance in Lleida. In addition, the Municipal Theater of the Escorxador will also join the celebrations with the show ‘Tantes Flores’.
Exhibitions and cinema
The program also includes the exhibition ‘Shiryaev or El Silenci de l’Eruga’ by Jordi Jové, which can be visited at the Llotja Theater. In addition, the cycle ‘Café short’ will offer a selection of short films and video-dances, focusing on dance as the main theme.
A poster that reflects diversity
The poster of the activities, designed by Savana Sky Mee, a student of the Leandre Cristòfol Municipal School of Art, symbolizes the diversity of dance through the feet and the different footwear styles, thus representing the rich variety of the Lleida community.
A global celebration
Every April 29, International Dance Day is commemorated all over the world, in honor of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre, a key figure in the history of ballet. Lleida joins this global celebration to give visibility to dance and strengthen its social value.
Through this week dedicated to dance, Lleida seeks to inspire citizenship to connect with the art of movement, celebrating its diversity and the passion that the dance brings to the community.
