This annual event, rooted in African-Caribbean heritage, has evolved into a vibrant celebration that showcases the rich tapestry of Luton’s multicultural community, bringing together thousands of participants and spectators alike.

Parade Route and Schedule

The festivities will kick off at Church Street, meandering through the heart of Luton. Key landmarks along the route include George Street, the Town Hall, and Alma Street, culminating at St George’s Square for performances before concluding at Silver Street, adjacent to The Point shopping centre.

Timing the Fun

The carnival is set to commence at 12:00 BST, with a host of family-friendly entertainment in St George’s Square. The main parade will take to the streets from 13:00 until approximately 17:00, followed by additional activities that will keep the spirit alive until 18:00.

Navigating Luton During the Event

With the carnival’s vibrant activities, several roads will be closed to accommodate the influx of revelers. Key closures include Alma Link, Church Street, and George Street, among others. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport or park at nearby facilities like Midland Road Station car park, as there will be no designated drop-off points.

Engaging Activities for All Ages

In addition to the parade, the day will feature a range of activities, including Astro Aaron’s Space Blast Off Adventure at Luton Central Library, with specialized sessions for children with special needs. Interactive workshops at Luton Point will invite families to engage creatively, while the Chill Out Zone at the Hat Gardens provides a space to relax amidst the excitement.

Music will be a key component of the day, with performances from local bands and artists, including Steel Pan in Motion and UFO Steelband, creating a lively atmosphere that resonates throughout the carnival.

Support and Safety

For those attending, volunteers and stewards will be stationed throughout the route and in key areas like St George’s Square to assist with any inquiries. A designated lost child zone at Luton Central Library ensures the safety and comfort of families during the event.
