A world tour full of success and emotions
For months, Madonna’s world tour, known as The Celebration Tour, spanned the length and breadth of the planet. With a total of 81 presentations, this tour began in Europe, passed through various cities in the United States and culminated in some metropolises in South America. The Queen of Pop celebrated her successful career in the music industry through this concert series, an even more impressive achievement considering that she was recently near death, hospitalized in the ICU for four days in a very critical.
The choice of an emblematic repertoire
Selecting the hits that would be performed in a concert that spans 40 years of career is not an easy task. Madonna met this challenge with The Celebration Tour, a show that, for the first time, did not promote a new album. Instead, it was a tribute to her most glorious moments, designed especially for her loyal fans.
Mixed reactions from fans
Despite the resounding success, some fans showed concern about the artist’s behavior in certain presentations. Episodes like confusing Toronto with Boston, spitting at the audience and throwing beer before performing some of her most iconic songs left many perplexed. However, these moments did not overshadow the fact that the ‘Like a Virgin’ singer is enjoying a good stage in her life.
A near death episode
Before embarking on this incredible tour, Madonna had an experience that put her over the edge. She was in a coma for four days due to a serious bacterial infection. The star has mentioned twice during the tour what she describes as a ‘near-death experience’.
A difficult battle
“I have fallen from many horses and I have broken many bones. I have a titanium hip,” said Madonna in one of her shows, with the guitar in hand to the rhythm of one of her most celebrated songs. Her followers know that those four days in the ICU were more than just receiving medical care; She was one step away from death. “Obviously I didn’t know what happened during those days, because I was in an induced coma. But when I woke up, the first word I said was ‘No,’ according to my assistant. I’m pretty sure God asked me if I wanted to follow Him, and I answered ‘ No no’.”
This distressing episode began last summer when she lost consciousness and was immediately taken to a hospital in New York. “When I regained consciousness, I could see my six wonderful children around me. They all seemed very scared and I didn’t understand what was happening,” the artist said. Her last memory before the incident was being in the bathroom, and upon understanding what had happened, fear flooded her as she thought about the possibility of having left her children alone with her.
