Music Celebration: 20 years of Franz Schubert Philharmony

A musical journey of hard challenges and triumphs

Franz Schubert Philharmony is about to commemorate two decades of music excellence with a season that promises to be memorable. With a total of 18 programs and 52 concerts, the orchestra will not only be presented in Catalonia, but will also move to other countries, reaffirming its commitment to the dissemination of musical heritage.

Tomàs Grau, who holds the position of music and artistic director, shares his vision on the challenges of maintaining a private orchestra: ‘The day -to -day life can be complicated, but we are proud of our achievements and to continue offering quality musical experiences’.

Stellar concerts at the Palau de la Música

During this season, the Palau de la Música will be the scene of eleven emblematic concerts. Names like Lisa Batiashvili, Paul Huang and Joshua Bell, among others, will join the orchestra to celebrate this special birthday.

A bright start

The first concert of this celebration will take place on June 17, with the violinist Lisa Batiashvili, considered by Grau as ‘The Best Current Violinist’. Batiashvili will perform the violin concert no. Mozart, followed by Beethoven’s fifth symphony, which the orchestra usually programs in moderation.

Unique collaborations and diverse repertoires

On October 19, Paul Huang will debut with the orchestra, presenting the Korngold violin concert, and on November 12, the Simon Bolívar Orchestra will be joined to perform Symphony no. 2 of Mahler, with the accompaniment of the National Choir of Colombia, a true vocal treasure.

Returns and news

Anna Fedorova, a recognized Ukrainian pianist, will return on November 14 to perform her famous piano concert no. 2 of Rakhmaninov. Symphony no will also be scheduled. Sibelius 5, directed by Rune Bergmann.

Classic works and innovative initiatives

The season also includes the violin concert no. And by Philip Glass, played by Leticia Moreno, and a semi -conceiven of ‘Turandot’ by Puccini, with performances memorized by the singers, without stage design, on May 25 and 27.

A splendid closure

On June 2, Franz Schubert Philharmony will close the season with a program dedicated to musical nights, presenting works by composers such as Manuel de Falla and Ravel, with the participation of the pianist Judith Jáuregui and the director Lina González-Granados.

With a meticulously designed program for three years, the Franz Schubert Philharmony hopes that this season will not only celebrate its 20 years, but also to establish the foundations for two decades more of innovation and music excellence.
