Music without filter: an encounter on feminism and sounds

An unprecedented encounter in Tarragona

This next Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m., the Hipólito Sarcophagus Room at the Pretorio de Tarragona will be the stage of the second day of Pre Teta. This event, framed within Tarraco25, will revolve around the theme ‘Without the voices of women, the soundtrack of our history will be incomplete. It’s time to hear all voices. ‘

Height moderation and expert panel

The journalist Montse Virgili will lead this enriching conversation, which will address the problem of gender inequality in the musical field. Together with her, prominent voices such as Fatima Mellado of the Mim Association, Raquel Bassas Català, president of ARC, and artist Elena García, who will perform at the Teta 2025 Festival will be added.

Persistent inequalities in music

Despite the advances achieved in recent decades, the recognition and representation of women in the music industry remain poor. A study of the USC Annenberg reveals that only 2% of musical producers are women, a fact that reflects the need for significant changes in the industry.

A cycle of debates with purpose

This Thursday’s day is part of a broader cycle entitled ‘Weaving rebellions. Feminism and pride in dialogue through history ‘, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage. These meetings aim to celebrate and give voice to the multiple facets of feminism.

Open and free access

The event is free and is open to all citizens, although prior registration is required through a proportionate link.

Next session: Voices for the future

The third and last day of Pre Teta will take place on Thursday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m., in the Eutyches Room of the Fair Palace and Congresses in Tarragona. This event, entitled ‘Voices and generational responses, building resistances’, will be attended by the journalist and activist Ana Requena Aguilar, the political scientist Julia Salander and the lawyer Carla Galeote.

Registration necessary for the event

As in the previous sessions, assistance to this event also requires prior registration through the corresponding link.

Final reflections

These meetings are not only a space to discuss the current situation of women in music, but also invite reflection on the construction of a more inclusive and equitable future in all areas of cultural life.
