New initiatives in Lleida: Culture, security and sustainability

The Arts Park approved: a new green lung for Lleida

The Consistory of Lleida gave the green light in the last plenary session to the creation of the Parc de les Arts, a space designed to promote culture and nature in the heart of the Joc de la Bola district. This decision involves a review of the General Urban Planning Plan, with the aim of transforming an area of 15,048 m², previously intended for community facilities, into green areas that benefit residents.

A multifunctional space for the community

The new park will not only offer green spaces, but will also host services such as a library and social premises, designed to encourage interaction between residents and the development of various community activities.

New police equipment: a police station for public safety

Another highlight of the session was the approval of the transfer of a plot of land to the Generalitat for the construction of a new Mossos d’Esquadra police station. This facility, which will occupy a 6,400 m² plot of land located on Avenida Fontanet, seeks to strengthen security in the area and improve police services in the Ponent Police Region.

Budget amendment: more resources for the city

Lleida City Council approved a 3.3 million euro change in the 2024 budget, which includes increases for waste management, security with advanced technology, and investments in cultural infrastructure such as the new organ of the Cathedral

Regulation for electric vehicles: a step towards sustainability

In an effort to promote sustainable mobility, a new regulation was approved for the use of public electric chargers in Lleida. This system will regulate the use of various charging stations in the city, establishing time limits and conditions of use to ensure an adequate rotation of vehicles.

Debates in Plenary: motions on child protection and labor support

During the session, two outstanding motions were discussed. The first, presented by VOX, proposed an awareness campaign about the protection of minors on the Internet, which was rejected. The second, promoted by ERC-AM, asked for support for the workers of the municipal Nursery Schools, with a debate that generated several abstentions and votes against.

A message of collaboration for the future

At the end of the Plenary, the head priest, Fèlix Larrosa, stressed the importance of dialogue and institutional cooperation to promote projects that benefit the city. He called for public participation in the Autumn Festivals, which start with a gastronomic speech by chef Gonzalo Ferreruela, highlighting the cultural and social wealth of Lleida.
