New residence of the Santa Tecla Network in Tarragona

The Santa Tecla Network will award the works for the new residence

The Santa Tecla Network has decided to award the works for the new residence on Rambla Nova in Tarragona in the Caputxins building. This building, which until now was disused, housed the Official Language School of Tarragona for many years. The construction project of the new residence will be carried out in three phases, and the first two phases have already been awarded to the companies Garcia Riera, SL and Construcciones Tomás García S.A. The third phase, which will include issues of home automation and communication between patients and staff, will be awarded in a few months.

Details of the new residence

The new residence will have a total of 90 places, 20 of which will be day and the other 70 will be residential places. The building will have seven floors, with 8 single rooms and one double on each floor. In addition, each floor will have a communal area with a large outdoor terrace. On the ground floor and in the semi-basement there will be spaces dedicated to changing rooms, laundry, reception and offices.

A new residential model

The Santa Tecla Network is committed to a new residential model for the elderly, which offers a service and personalized attention similar to a group of homes. This model has been implemented in recent years, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Details on access and funding

Access to the residence will be through the main door on Rambla Nova, while the day center can be accessed through the back from Carrer Estanislau Figueras. The construction works of the new residence will cost more than 9 million euros, of which 5.2 million come from European Next Generation funds. It is expected that the works will be completed before the year 2025.

Transfer of current residence

With the construction of the new residence, it will be possible to move the current residence located in the Santa Tecla Llevant Complex, which will be dedicated exclusively to the health sector and intermediate care. This will win hospital beds.
