New road safety courses for young people with electric scooters

A new age for urban mobility

With the updating of regulations governing the use of personal mobility vehicles such as electric scooters, Igualada City Council, in collaboration with the Anoia Motor Campus, has launched an innovative initiative to train young people between the ages of 16 and 18. The aim is to provide fundamental knowledge of road circulation and safety, essential in an increasingly complex urban context.

Commitment to road safety

Miquel Vives, the Councilor for Mobility, emphasized the importance of this initiative, which seeks not only to educate, but also to foster a culture of respect and security among scooter users. ‘This training is an extension of the measures we announced with the modification of the ordinance. We want to ensure that all young people who use these vehicles know the rules of circulation and the responsibility involved, ” he said.

Content of the training program

The program includes theoretical sessions that can be performed online, where participants will learn about circulation regulations, the operation of the skateboards and the necessary security measures. In addition, the course offers subsidized practices that address different driving scenarios, such as weather conditions and braking distances, in order to properly prepare young people for the reality of traffic.

A model of integral training

The Anoia Motor Campus, recognized for its vocational training in safe and sustainable mobility, provides a learning environment that complies with ISO 39001 standards. Through its CMACADEMY platform, students will be able to access online training material for free, complemented by practical sessions at the Parcmotor circuit.

Fostering awareness among young people

In addition to the training, the City Council of Igualada plans an awareness campaign that will include the distribution of information material in schools. This action seeks to facilitate registration for courses and ensure that young people have access to key information for their road safety.

Looking to the future

With this new initiative, Igualada is positioned as a benchmark in promoting safe mobility among young people, ensuring that the future generation is well equipped to navigate the urban roads in a responsible and informed manner. The integration of these courses in the educational system is a decisive step towards a safer and more sustainable city.
