New support program for university students in the Pyrenees counties

Opening of grants for college students

The Research and Universities Department has launched a new initiative aimed at providing financial aid to university students from various Pyrenean counties, including Alt Urgell, Alta Ribagorça, Berguedà and others. This program seeks to foster access to higher education in regions with less resources.

Budget and conditions of access

With a total budget of 1 million euros, the call maintains the inclusion of all the counties that benefited last year. Students may apply for grants that can reach up to 2,000 euros, with a submission deadline ending on March 27.

Objectives of the call

The main objective of these grants is to guarantee greater equity in access to the university, as well as facilitate the displacement and accommodation of students who have to travel outside their counties of origin.

Requirements for the request

Interested parties will have to meet certain requirements, such as not exceeding the established family and family income thresholds. In addition, it is necessary to be enrolled in a minimum of 60 credits per year in face -to -face degree studies.

Criteria for new students

Those who have not started their studies this year also have to demonstrate good academic performance, with a minimum of 80% of the credits passed in the previous year, except for the students of Engineering and Architecture, who have to achieve 60%.

Previous year data

In the last edition, a total of 323 grants were awarded, with a remarkable majority granted to women (65.69%). The beneficiaries came from several counties, highlighting the Solsonès with 75 grants, followed by Berguedà and Alt Urgell.

University Destins of the Beneficiaries

In terms of academic destination, the University of Barcelona was the most popular among the beneficiaries, with 80 students. Other institutions such as the University of Lleida and the Autonomous University of Barcelona also hosted a significant number of grants.

A promising future

As the program progresses, its implementation is expected to help transform the academic life of many students, opening new opportunities and facilitating access to quality education for all.
