The district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi takes measures to reduce night-time dirt and noise
The district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, in Barcelona, has announced that it will limit the opening hours of five bakeries and a 24-hour shop near Carrer Tuset, an area with several nightlife venues. From now on, these establishments will have to close between 10:00 p.m. and 07:00 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and bank holiday nights. This measure has been taken to avoid the concentration of people on the street eating and drinking outside night clubs or when they have already closed, which has generated complaints from neighbors about noise and dirt.
The measure takes into account the high concentration of nightlife establishments in the area
According to the councilor of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Maria Eugènia Gay, this measure has been taken taking into account the high presence of restaurants, music bars and nightclubs in the area. This attracts a large number of people during weekend nights, causing noise and other disturbances. In addition, many nightlife users buy food and drinks from 24-hour establishments and consume them on the street when they leave nightlife venues.
Other measures to improve coexistence in the district
In addition to the limitation of hours for restaurant establishments, the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi is implementing other measures to improve cleanliness and coexistence in the area. This includes the change of location of taxi stands and containers, as well as a greater presence of the Guardia Urbana.
Entry into force and trial period
The establishments affected by this new regulation have a period of 15 days to present allegations. It is expected that the measure will enter into force before the month of July and will be tested for six months to evaluate its effectiveness (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).
