Paper dresses: Art and tradition in Llinars del Vallès

An exhibition that celebrates local creativity

Until April 27, the art space Gloria Izquierdo is transformed into a true tribute to female creativity with the exhibition ‘The art of paper dresses’. Organized by the Association of Senior and Pensioner People (AGGP) in Llinars del Vallès, this exhibition presents more than 30 dresses made with Pinocchio paper, a tradition that goes back to 1988.

The creation process: a combination of art and dedication

Each piece, a result of meticulous working hours, reflects the passion and ability of sewers. Nati Parareda, President of the AGGP, stated during the inauguration that “each dress is made with the heart”, emphasizing the importance of emotional dedication in each creation.

A complete vision of the creative process

The exhibition is divided into two rooms: the first shows a selection of costumes, while the second details the creation process, from the conception of the idea to its presentation in parades. In addition, visitors can enjoy a video that documents the preparation of these unique dresses.

Activities and exhibitions: a commitment to the community

On March 29, attendees will have the opportunity to witness a live exhibition of paper accessories, while on April 6 a guided tour with the sewers will be held, offering a personal approach to this art.

Recognizing the legacy: a memory for the pioneers

At the inauguration, Mayor Martí Pujol emphasized the importance of this tradition, saying that he has been a testament to the selfless effort of many people since 1988 “. He acknowledged the complexity of sewing with paper and paid tribute to those who contributed to this art and are no longer there.

A tradition that goes beyond Llinars

The paper dresses have not only been presented to Llinars, but they have traveled to other municipalities such as Sant Esteve del Coll i Mataró, where they have left a significant imprint. Its history, with 20 parades since 1998, has become an essential element of local festivals.

A future full of possibilities

As this tradition continues to evolve, AGGP’s commitment is that the art of paper dresses will remain alive, inspiring future generations to continue to create and celebrate this form of artistic expression.
