A new service for whole health

The General Hospital of Granollers has inaugurated a pelvic floor rehabilitation unit, a service designed to globally address health challenges in this specific area, aimed at residents of the Vallès Oriental.

This new unit has been equipped with state -of -the -art technology and a multidisciplinary team made up of professionals from various disciplines, in order to provide individualized and effective treatment to adults with problems related to pelvic soil.

Collaboration between specialties

The unit is the result of a close collaboration between the services of gynecology, urology, general and digestive surgery, as well as the area of ​​rehabilitation and nursing, in order to ensure a comprehensive approach to the treatment of patients.

Process of derivation and evaluation

Patients will be referred to the new unit through primary care or the Sexual and Reproductive Health Care Unit (ASSIR). Once referred, specialists in gynecology, urology and general surgery will make a thorough assessment.

Slide therapeutic decisions

After the analysis, the most appropriate treatment plan will be determined, following specific protocols for each case. If it is considered viable, a conservative approach that involves specialized physiotherapy will be prioritized.

The impact of the dysfunctions of the pelvic soil

Pelvic floor dysfunctions are more common than you think, affecting a large number of people, both men and women, and increasing every year. Recent research indicates that more than 30% of women and 10% of men are affected, especially after prostate surgeries or chronic pathologies.

People over the age of 65 are the worst affected, with rates reaching 50%. These dysfunctions not only involve medical consequences, but also have a significant impact on the quality of life and emotional well -being of patients.

Since its opening in November 2024, the unit has served more than 40 patients, with promising results. Notable improvements have been observed in symptoms such as urinary and fecal incontinence, allowing patients to regain autonomy and improve their quality of life.

The creation of this unit is part of the new Strategic Plan of the General Hospital of Granollers, which seeks more personalized, efficient and adapted health care to the real needs of the community, thus emphasizing the commitment of the Hospital to Health of its users.
