Port Tarragona begins a new age for cruise ships with stairs

Opening of the 2025 season

This Wednesday, April 2, Port Tarragona welcomed the 2025 cruise season with the arrival of ‘La Belle des Océans’, a boat from the Croisiurope company. With 98 passengers and 66 members of the crew on board, the boat docked at 1pm from Cartagena.

A year of record on stairs

With a total of 65 scheduled stairs, Tarragona is preparing to overcome its previous record, with two more arrivals than last year. This increase highlights the growing popularity of the port among cruise companies.

Highlights of MSC Cruises

Among the scheduled stairs, 25 will be operated by MSC Cruises, who has chosen Tarragona as the base port for the fourth consecutive year. This weekly cruise, which will set sail on Friday between May and October, is a clear commitment to enhance the tourist attraction of the Costa Dorada.

Expectations for passengers

It is estimated that over eight months, about 120,000 travelers will visit the Balearic Moll and the Tarragona Cruise Port terminal, with the aim of discovering the tourist wonders of the region.

Itineraries that inspire

The ‘La Belle des Océans’ will start a route that includes stops in other emblematic ports such as Malaga, Barcelona and Roses, routes that follow the footprints of artistic figures such as Gaudí, Dalí and Picasso. Interestingly, this same cruise will close the season on November 4.

Port Tarragona’s sustainable growth

The programming of 65 scales for the 2025 season reflects a firm commitment to sustainable growth, a strategy that Port Tarragona and the territory have defended for more than a decade. However, passenger figures are far from the large Mediterranean cruise ports.

A vision toward the future

With the constant growth of cruise traffic, the port of Tarragona is positioned as an emerging destination in the sector, looking towards a promising future that will be able to attract even more visitors and strengthen the local economy.
