Princess Leonor at the Military Academy of Zaragoza

A satisfactory year of training

Although she still has two years left to complete her training, this first year has been quite satisfactory in general terms for Princess Leonor at the Zaragoza Military Academy. Her adaptation to the barracks environment has been positive, although she has required help in the maneuvers, her theoretical qualifications are notable and she has integrated well among her colleagues.

Exemplary behavior inside and outside the barracks

Within the walls of the barracks, Leonor and her companions maintain exemplary behavior, following all orders and showing maximum respect towards their superiors. However, the situation changes in her free time, especially during the weekends. Many of the cadets, including Leonor, usually travel to the center of Zaragoza to enjoy different types of recreation, such as dining at fast food restaurants or visiting entertainment venues such as pubs and nightclubs.

Good reputation outside the barracks

His behavior outside the barracks does not cause significant problems either. Quite the opposite. It is exemplary. The owners of the places they frequent are delighted with them. While the atmosphere of camaraderie and discipline at the Academy, combined with the freedom and fun in her free time, offers Leonor an enriching and different experience from what she was used to in the royal palace.

Challenges and sanctions

However, as is common in young people their age, sometimes it is difficult for them to return on time. They find it difficult to give up the fun. And this has caused Leonor and other cadets to arrive late to the barracks on several occasions, even after 11 p.m., which has resulted in some reprimands from the Academy. They have even been called to order.

Treated like any other cadet

These sanctions show that Leonor is being treated like any other cadet, in accordance with the wishes of Queen Letizia and King Felipe. However, given her special status as heir to the throne, marked by the Academy’s law, it is unlikely that she will be expelled from it, no matter how many sanctions she receives from it. This does not seem to worry Leonor too much, since she is enjoying a unique and different experience from her life in Zarzuela under Letizia’s roof. Although the reprimands are part of her learning and adaptation process, it is likely that the crown princess will continue to make the most of this military training opportunity, aware of her role as the future leader of the Spanish Crown.
