Active maintenance of natural spaces
The City Council of Sabadell has begun a series of actions to strengthen the cleaning and maintenance of its natural environments, with the aim of reducing the danger of wildfires during the summer season. These initiatives, which are being carried out on an area of 1,600 hectares, will last until the night of San Juan and are part of the Forest Fire Prevention Plan. This strategy is coordinated with various entities, including Firefighters of the Generalitat and the Forestry Defense Grouping.
Labor opportunities and training
In addition to the usual CIPO teams, this year a group of eight employees hired through Employment Plans Llonch has been incorporated. These plans, designed to promote the labor insertion of unemployed people, especially focus on those over 45, combining training with work experience. Mayor Marta Farrés said: “Taking advantage of public service tasks, we offer new opportunities to those who find it difficult to access the labor market, thus promoting collective progress and improvement in the city.”
Specific actions performed
Current tasks include cracking and mitigation along the Ripoll river path, as well as in various stay and peri -urban parks. In addition, cleaning work, maintenance of street furniture, signaling and improvement of natural sources are being carried out. All this is carried out with resources of the City Council and through a contract with CIPO S.C.C.L., which mobilizes six teams in different parts of the city.
Risk of fires and environmental conditions
Despite recent rains that have slightly improved drought, they have also favored vegetation growth, which can increase the risk of fires if not properly managed. For this reason, the City Council emphasizes the importance of preventive measures implemented.
Areas of action and improvement of roads
Among the areas where these actions are being taken, you can mention: the Ripoll river path, the Molí Amat stay area, the Sant Vicenç de Jonqueres Neighborhood Park, as well as other parks and streams in the city. In addition, improvements are being made on the roads that are part of the road prevention network, especially those that have been damaged by the weather conditions.
Environmental safety regulations
To guarantee the safety of our natural environment, the population is reminded that until October 15 it is forbidden to burn stubbles and other forest waste, as well as the use of artificial rockets or fires in forest areas and a perimeter of 500 meters around. These measures are essential to protect and preserve our natural spaces.
