A call for unity
The manifesto, titled ‘With President Puigdemont, towards independent Catalonia’, is described as a ‘popular initiative’ that invites any citizen to join, as indicated on the corresponding website.
The signatories maintain that the candidacy of former president Puigdemont is uniquely related to the legitimacy of the historic referendum of October 1, 2017, and affirm that Puigdemont is the main defender of the cause of liberation of the Catalan nation, both in the Catalan Countries , as in Spain, Europe and worldwide.
The manifesto highlights Puigdemont’s tenacious fight, considering him deserving of respect and international prestige as a defender of a just and democratic cause, and calls for the union of efforts to resume the path begun with more strength and intelligence and complete it.
