Opening of deadlines for linguistic subsidies
The Department of Language Policy of the Generalitat has begun the application period for the subsidies aimed at promoting the use and understanding of Occitan, known as Aranese in Aran, within the Catalan territory. Applications may be submitted until March 27, 2025 at 2 noon.
Objectives of the subsidies
These aids are designed to promote initiatives that seek to enhance the knowledge, valorization and active use of the Occitan language. However, they are limited to projects where Aranese is the main focus, excluding those in which its promotion is merely accessory or already supporting other sources, as in the case of music or audiovisual productions.
Who can apply for these aids?
The call is aimed at individuals, non -profit organizations and companies, provided that the projects presented have a direct relationship with the Aranese variety of Occitan or the Aran region. In addition, it is important to emphasize that the maximum grant cannot exceed 80% of the total cost of the project.
Commitment to the Aranese language
The Catalan Department of Language Policy reaffirms its commitment to the Aranese community, offering support for its official language. This accompaniment is crucial in fields such as education, for both children and adults, as well as promoting the use of Aranese in the media. In addition, an annual collaboration has been established with the Conselh Generau d’Aran and the Institut d’Estudis Aranesi.
Results of above aid
By 2024, the department granted grants to 13 projects focused on promoting Occitan. The initiatives supported include the formations of the CAOC and the Aranese Institute, as well as the media such as the newspaper ‘Joralet’, the magazine ‘Sapiéncia Occitana’, and the ‘Invisible Country’ video -show.
