Reaction of ERC and restructuring of electoral lists

Disagreement with Budgets and Early Elections

After a significant disagreement in relation to the budgets, the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has chosen to postpone the elections to May 12. This unexpected move has had an impact on the organization of electoral lists.

Restructuring of the Electoral Lists of ERC

After this decision, Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) has experienced a significant restructuring of its lists in an effort to retain power in the Government. Seven councilors of the executive have been dispensed with, including relevant figures such as Roger Torrent and David Mascort.

New Composition of the Electoral Lists

Laura Vilagrà, vice-president of the Government since January, retains her position as second on Pere Aragonès’ list. On the other hand, Josep Maria Jové, who was in fifth place in the 2021 candidacy, has risen to third place on the ERC lists in Barcelona. In addition, other candidates head the lists in Girona, Tarragona and Lleida.
