Recaredo, located in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, commemorates 100 years of dedication to the production of sparkling wines in the Penedès region. This winery, recognized as one of the most emblematic in Catalonia, stands out for its exceptional sparkling wine, the Enoteca Turó d’en Mota 2001, the only one in the country to achieve the perfect score of 100 points in the prestigious Parker wine classification.
A Family Legacy
In 1924, Josep Mata Capellades founded Recaredo, marking the beginning of a story that continues to this day. Mata, who entered the world of sparkling wines as an apprentice, combined his passion for soccer with his work in various wineries in the country. The name of the winery, Recaredo, is a tribute to his father, Recaredo Mata Figueras, and represents a family tradition that has endured through generations.
Tribute to a Visionary
To commemorate this anniversary, the family has created a special sparkling wine, ‘Tribute to Josep Mata Capellades 2004’, in honor of the founder of the winery. This limited edition, aged for 224 months, embodies Mata’s dedication and legacy, maintaining the traditional methods that have been fundamental to the quality and authenticity of Recaredo sparkling wines.
Commitment to Tradition and Quality
The second and third generation of the family, at the head of the winery, continue to preserve the traditional methods used by Josep Mata. Although they use technical improvements, such as stainless steel, Recaredo maintains the tradition of turning the bottles manually, using cork stoppers and harvesting by hand, fundamental pillars of its unique philosophy.

Recaredo is one of the founding wineries of Corpinnat, a brand that promotes the production of sparkling wines rooted in the territory, from the vineyard to the bottle. With rigorous requirements, such as a high percentage of its own cultivation and the prohibition of purchasing wine from third parties, Corpinnat competes globally by maintaining the excellence and authenticity of its products.
