Recognized the dedication of the Vallsan entities in international cooperation

A deserved recognition

Recently, the Catalan Development Cooperation Fund has decided to reward the efforts of several Vallsan organizations, including Clowns Without Borders and the Garriga Civil Society, in a gala held on the night of the Catalan Fund. This event was the perfect scenario to highlight the dedication of the councils of Caldes, La Garriga and La Roca, which have fulfilled a commitment of 0.7% of GDP for cooperation projects.

The mission of clowns without borders

Clowns Without Borders has been awarded its unmatched contribution to bring joy to children in precarious situations around the world, especially in refugee camps. Jaume Mateu, known by his stage name Tortell Poltrona, expressed his satisfaction with the recognition, emphasizing that his contribution is not physical, but emotional. “Our job is to make laugh, and that is valued is very rewarding,” he said.

In -running actions and future projects

The entity has already begun its performances this year, with recent visits to Morocco and Bangladesh. One of its most ambitious goals is to establish a presence in Gaza, as well as refugee camps in Sudan, according to Matthew.

The Garriga Civil Society: a pillar in the defense of human rights

The other award was awarded to La Garriga Civil Society, which has been recognized for its work in promoting human rights and its active participation in the community. Teresa Niubó, a member of the organization, surprised the award, emphasizing that her work is discreet but significant. “Our work is constant and we hope it continues for many years,” he said.

Emergency projects and current reality

Niubó classified its initiatives as ’emergency projects’, which respond to the immediate needs caused by conflicts and migratory crises. “Violence and wars have changed our perspective and the need for activism is more urgent than ever,” he added.

A collective commitment to cooperation

In addition to the awarded entities, the councils of Caldes, La Garriga and La Roca, as well as the County Council, were recognized for their dedication to allocating 0.7% of their GDP to development cooperation projects. Isidre Pineda, Mayor of Caldes and Vice President of the Catalan Fund, made a speech during the delivery, emphasizing the importance of the commitment of local administrations. “Local institutions are often the most striking to fulfill this commitment,” he concluded.
