A New Chapter in the History of the Tower of Claramunt
The Torre de Claramunt has taken a significant step in its cultural career with the recent museumization of the Maria Asunción mine. This project, promoted by the Local City Council with the support of the Diputació de Barcelona, seeks to recover and preserve the mining legacy of the region, offering the visitors a deep look at the industrial past of the Anoia region.
A journey to the past: The House of the Miners
The nucleus of this initiative is in the transformation of the House of Miners into a dynamic interpretative space. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the daily experiences of the miners through two rooms designed carefully. The first recreates moments of coexistence with real -size figures made in Corten steel, while the second presents a warehouse full of original tools, which includes peaks, shovels and rails, revealing the harshness of his work.
Restoration and conservation
In order to ensure that the space maintains its historical character, details such as the fireplace, doors and windows, as well as the facade of the building, have been restored, allowing visitors to experience the authenticity of the place as it was During the golden age of mining.
A commitment to historical memory
Mayor Jaume Riba emphasized the relevance of this project, saying that it is not only a tool to remember the past, but also an opportunity to revitalize cultural tourism. With the inauguration of guided tours scheduled for next March, the aim is to foster a feeling of identity among the inhabitants and attract visitors interested in local history.
A vision to future: growth projections
This museumization phase is just the beginning. The City Council has requested the implementation of a third phase that will focus on the recovery of other mining structures, such as the building that houses engines and water pumps, with the aim of carrying out this project by 2025. This initiative is part of a wider strategy to position the Claramunt tower as a benchmark in the conservation of the cultural heritage of the region.
Opening to the public: a legacy to explore
With the space already open to the public, the City Council invites all those interested in discovering this fascinating mining legacy. Mina Maria Asunción is not only a memory of the past, but a living testimony of the importance of the mining industry in the formation of the current community.
