Reflections on the future of Andorra on the 32nd anniversary of the Constitution

A significant celebration

March 14 marks a key moment in the history of Andorra, as it commemorates the 32nd anniversary of our Constitution. This Magna Carta not only laid the foundations for popular sovereignty, but also provided the Principality with a legal identity recognized internationally. Since then, the country has experienced significant development, gaining a place between nations that exemplify democracy and peace.

Challenges and opportunities

The current Andorra is facing new challenges, especially in the context of a demographic increase that raises expectations for a more inclusive and diversified society. This transformation calls for a rethinking of the future, where human capital becomes the key to coping with the uncertainties that await us. It is essential to see this stage as an opportunity to build a more connected and plural future.

A participatory process

In order to face these challenges, the Government is designing a process of citizen participation that seeks to involve the population in reflection on the future of the country. This initiative invites to discuss relevant issues such as the national identity, the culture and the role of Andorra in the international stage, while addressing current issues such as access to housing, mobility and the impact of technology on society.

Building the future together

Through an open dialogue, we want to guarantee that the voice of Andorrans is heard and has a real weight in the configuration of a shared future. The process is based on collective intelligence, and seeks to bring together a representative sample of the citizenry to imagine the Andorra of 2050. The concerns and aspirations of society must be the engine of this debate.

Commitment to the present and the future

It is important to clarify that, despite this debate, the roadmap established in relation to the association agreement with the European Union will continue its course. The validation of this agreement by the Member States of the EU and the European Parliament will mark the moment when we can collect the opinions of the citizens on our relationship with Europe.

Values and Aspirations

The day of the Constitution offers us an opportunity to reaffirm the values that have been fundamental in our history of peace and coexistence. It is time to believe in the potential of Andorra as a nation and to work together for a shared prosperity project. In the hope that our actions and initiatives will contribute to this prosperity, the Government is committed to continuing to work for the common good.

Desires for all

In the name of the Government, I wish you all a happy Constitution Day, with the conviction that together we can build a better future for Andorra.
