Registration for summer camps and camps in Barcelona

Opening of the registration period

Today, Tuesday, April 2, the registration period for the summer camps and camps in Barcelona has begun. Registrations opened at 9:00 am, but within a few minutes the website crashed and the message ‘out of service’ appeared. Due to the high demand for these schools and camps, many parents have not been able to access the website and complete the procedure. At a quarter to twelve in the afternoon, the website was still not working properly.

Offer of educational and leisure activities

The municipal summer program offers more than a thousand educational and leisure activities for children and teenagers up to the age of 17. This summer there will be more than 360,000 places to choose from, in different environments and with scholarships for vulnerable children (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).

Dates and modalities of the activities

Summer activities will begin on June 22 and end on September 6, to accommodate the start of the school year. The offer includes various modalities such as summer nursery, camps, camps, cultural stays outside Catalonia, routes, sports centers, the Olympic Sports Campus, performing arts workshops, English courses and family activities, among others

Payment and scholarships

Activities can be paid in installments and a scholarship can also be applied for. This year, the city council is allocating 5.1 million euros in scholarships so that all children can enjoy the program. The aid must be applied for online after having registered the child in the activity and the amount of the grant will depend on the family income (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de -catalan-texts/).

Colonies of the Generalitat

In addition to the Barcelona City Council camps, the Generalitat also opens registrations for the ‘Summer is yours’ camps. This educational leisure program, promoted by the Catalan Youth Agency, offers up to 3,100 places for children and young people aged 5 to 16. The camps will be held in 13 hostels in the public network and will have more than 500 instructors. The program will be organized in 84 shifts during the months of July, August and September (https://www.softcatala.org/resum-de-textos-en-catala/).

Modalities of the colonies

The camps offer various modalities such as music, themed with languages, sports activities, science and ingenuity, cinema, hiking, dance, photography and image, art and creativity, and nature. This year the offer for children aged 5 to 7 has been extended, with language, music, art, dance and nature sessions.
