Relivating the past: Torrebesses celebrates its medieval history

A trip to 1427

On May 17, Torrebesses retreated in time to remember a key moment in its history. The historical recreation day ‘Torrebesses 1427: The feudal lords, sale and release of the town’ was presented by prominent local authorities, including the Vice President of the Lleida Provincial Council, Agustí Jiménez, and the Mayor Mario Urrea.

Activities for the whole family

With a program that took place from 11 am until 7 pm, the day offered a variety of activities designed for all audiences. Among them, medieval arts and crafts workshops such as ceramics, wool and forging work, which allowed attendees to experience first -hand the skills of the old craftsmen.

Attractions and shows

Visitors also enjoyed demonstrations of air circus, juggling and belly dance, as well as a parade animated by the Joglars de la Bota. In addition, local products, such as oil, cheeses and beers, enriched the experience, creating a festive and cozy atmosphere.

A collective effort

Jiménez emphasized the importance of collaborating between municipalities to enhance tourism and culture. “The future of our peoples depends on our capacity to network,” he said, emphasizing that this event seeks not only to celebrate history, but also to foster union between communities.

Closing with a theatrical touch

The highlight of the day was a theatrical performance created by the ‘dramatized’ company, which attracted the audience’s attention with a fun and didactic representation of the events of May 5, 1427. All the events were free and accessible, encouraging the participation of the community.

A project with a vision for the future

This initiative, organized for the first time in Torrebesses, is part of the project ‘Al village there is everything’, which seeks to strengthen the links between small municipalities through cultural fairs and events. The aim is not only to preserve local history, but also to attract new visitors and offer a platform for collaboration between peoples.

Final reflections

With the celebration of this day, Torrebesses has shown that cultural heritage can be a powerful engine of local development. As more municipalities join this initiative, the possibility of creating sustainable and enriching tourism becomes more and more real.
