The Budget Agreement and Its Failure
On February 27, Pere Aragonès and Salvador Illa reached a budget agreement for the Generalitat of Catalonia. However, this agreement failed to materialize, since no other group in the Parliament of Catalonia supported the proposed budgets.
One of the fundamental reasons that led to the lack of support for the Republican and Socialist proposal was the Hard Rock project, a casino macro complex that is intended to be built in Tarragona.
The Renewal of Commitment
As reported by La Directa, the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia renewed its commitment to Hard Rock just thirty minutes after certifying the agreement with the PSC.
This renewal, signed by the Secretary of the Government, Xavier Bernadí, at 3:31 p.m., was not made public during the press conference of the Government spokesperson, Patrícia Plaja, nor in the summary of Government Agreements that is sent to the press every Tuesday, even though it was published on the Department of the Presidency website.
The Papel del Incasòl
The commitment renewal document consists of two points. The first of them annuls the Government Agreement of December 15, 2020, which ordered Incasòl to acquire the land for the hotel and gaming macro complex for 120 million euros from Criteria Caja, and then sell these lands to BCN IR 3 SAU. , the Hard Rock promotion company.
The second point maintains this assignment to Incasòl to formalize the private and public agreements that correspond to acquire and subsequently alienate the land. Unlike 2020, in this case no price has been set for the plot nor has a deadline been established to carry out this real estate operation.
